THE CHALLENGE:
The mission of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation is to “inspire and enable youth participation in sports. Because sports build character, increase confidence, motivate kids to stay in school and air for higher education; teaching life lessons that extend well beyond the playing field.” They came to us to create a documentary film that brought this mission to life by showing the importance of sports in underserved communities across America.
THE SOLUTION:
We collaborated with documentary filmmaker Matt Ogens (who later went on to be nominated for an Academy Award) to find and tell the story of three high school athletes who live in Juarez Mexico with their parents and cross the border every day to attend school in El Paso, Texas in one of the poorest school districts in the country. As a result the film shows how athletics can provide hope and meaning in a world of intense political, financial and cultural challenges.
THE RESULTS:
The film debuted to acclaim at the Tribeca Film Festival and received distribution on Apple TV and Prime Video among others.
