THE CHALLENGE:

Google came to us to because they needed a marquis experience for their VR Spotlight Stories platform to show what it was capable of. At the time, VR experiences were exclusively animated, as the technology for live action VR did not yet exist.

THE SOLUTION:

Our founder, Justin Lin, had the idea to create a three minute, live action homage to the kaiju monster movies he loved as a child. In order to bring it to life, we worked with The Mill to develop new camera rigs and software stitching technology to make it possible.

THE RESULTS:

HELP was the world’s first live-action VR movie. It was also one of the most viewed VR films of all time and the underlying IP serves as the basis for Google’s VR content to this day.
